Physical Therapy Physical Therapy focuses on mobility and the restoration of normal movement and function, and the alleviation of pain. Physical Therapy provides treatment for a variety of diagnoses and conditions:

Special Programs
FOCUS / Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program
Patients receive an intensive, comprehensive rehabilitation program involving at least two therapies (Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy) and coordination of care by a licensed social worker.
The FOCUS program emphasizes functional skills and independence with a focus on community re-entry. Criteria for participation are:
- Need for two of more therapies
- Ability to participate in two or more hours of therapy per visit
- Reasonable expectation for improvement.
People who have experienced any of the following can potentially benefit from our individualized, intensive rehabilitation program:
- Stroke
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Total Joint Replacements
- Amputations
- Neurological Disorders
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Cardiac Disease
- Pulmonary Disease
Candidates for this program are patients who need at least two different therapies, and who do not require inpatient care. Patients must also be able to make outpatient visits to our clinic. Lakeplains Rehabilitation Services can assist in arranging transportation through the Community Action Transportation System if needed.

Activities of Daily Living
Mobility - Improving mobility is an essential first step in restoring a productive life-style.
We will focus on:
- Musculoskeletal strengthening
- Neuromuscular training
- Functional activity such as moving in and out of bed, chairs, and cars, and other activities of daily living.

Women's Health / Urinary Stress Incontinence Program The program is a conservative, non-invasive approach. The scope of treatment involves: Strengthening of pelvic floor muscles Education and training in behavior modification and lifestyle factors Muscle relaxation techniques referred to as 'physiological quieting' designed to reduce autonomic nervous system stimulation to the bladder.
Senior Wellness Program Participants consult with a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in designing their own individualized exercise program. Participants have access to state of the art exercise equipment, and receive supervision by a Physical Therapist Assistant. Participants must have a physician's prescription.
