A structured schedule of activities for each day is designed to promote stabilization of symptoms. Each patient is assigned a staff member who meets with the patient individually on a daily basis to address treatment goals and to assess progress. Throughout the day there are periods for rest and personal activities. The schedule can be modified if necessary to meet a patient's individual needs.

Therapeutic groups are a core part of treatment. The groups are educational, with the goals of facilitating the patient to express needs and concerns, and to help improve or develop skills to deal with those needs and concerns.

Families and significant others are included in the treatment process as appropriate. Visiting hours are not restricted (unless clinically indicated) and families are encouraged to participate in groups such as Discharge Planning or Relapse Prevention Groups.
