Quality About Medina

Quality Care
Medina Memorial Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients. Hospitals can vary in the quality of care they provide. A way to see how hospitals give quality care is to visit the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website at www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov. Getting the recommended care means you are more likely to have a healthy result after your illness. Hospitals may be compared by how they care for the most common conditions admitted to the hospital. These indicators (quality care measures) are important because they are the best way to see how a hospital is following best care practices or guidelines for patients with these types of conditions.

Patient Satisfaction
Another way to measure high quality care is to see how satisfied patients are with care they received in the hospital. CMS also shares hospital results with the public by using a survey called HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment Healthcare Providers and Systems). This survey asks patients about their opinions of the care they received in the hospital. All hospitals use this same survey so people can compare the patients’ views about the care that is given. These results may also be viewed at the above website. The common answers patients use to answer the patient satisfaction questions are: “never”, “sometimes”, “usually” and “always”.
